Countess of Dufferin, the third challenger for the 1876 America's Cup, as she appeared on the ways ready for launching at Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. ^^^The challenge was sent by the Royal Canadian Yacht Club of Toronto and the owner was Major Charles Gifford, vice-Commodore of the club. America carries her flying-jib, ^^^a bet with Ratsey sailmaker in Cowes before the race. She broke the jib-boom south of Wight during the race. 10 Metre "Pesa" on a reach in Brest Bay, France. This heavily canvassed, gaff-rigged racing yacht is one of the rare 10 Metre JI's still existing today. She was designed and built in 1911 by the German architect Max Oertz. ^^^55 yachts of that series were built in Europe before 1914. Pesa was been abandoned in a French boatyard until 1996 when a new owner decided to restore the boat with the help of Guy Ribadeau Dumas, also responsible for the 12 Metre Vanity V refit. Overall length: 19,90 metres. Deck length: 15,78 metres. Sail area upwind: 170 m2.

64.5m three-masted schooner "Adix" during a race around the Isle of Wight in 1997. ^^^Adix can carry 1280 sq.metres when sailing upwind, and 2604 sq.metres on a run. The yacht is the former Jessica, built in 1984 in Palma de Mallorca, belonging to Carlo Perdomo. When her new owner bought Jessica, it took two years to totally modify the old steel yacht with new bow, stern, keel and rig. Work was supervised by the Dutch designer Gerard Dijskra.

Thomas Sopwith's J-class "Endeavour" anchored off the Queen Charlotte Islands, south of Alaska. ^^^Rondal, the sparmaking department of Dutch Royal Huisman shipyard, built it from rolled aluminium sections. The rig is as it was in 1934, seven/eighths cutter flying high-clew jib and staysail. The boom is the "Park Avenue" type, with its beamy, triangular cross-section. The elliptical shape of its upper part, hidden here by the folded mainsail, is like the deck of a boat.

64.5m three-masted schooner "Adix" during a race around the Isle of Wight in 1997. ^^^Adix can carry 1280 sq.metres when sailing upwind, and 2604 sq.metres on a run. The yacht is the former Jessica, built in 1984 in Palma de Mallorca, belonging to Carlo Perdomo. When her new owner bought Jessica, it took two years to totally modify the old steel yacht with new bow, stern, keel and rig. Work was supervised by the Dutch designer Gerard Dijskra.

Designed and built in 1909 by William Fife, Tuiga was saved from a wreck state by Albert Obrist, and rebuilt at Fairlie Restorations shipyard. ^^^Her hull is built with alternate steel and steamed wood frames with mahogany planking fastened with bronze. Tuiga is one of the last survivors of the 20 yachts built under the 15-Metre Class rules between 1909 and 1912.

He helped to rebuild the wreck of the Endeavor with Elizabeth Meyer. Frank Murdoch passed away on 13 June 1996, aged 92.
