British naval architect Nigel Irens on trimaran 21.3m "Ilan Voyager" prototype under construction. To prove her speed, economy and range capability, "Ilan Voyager" made a record-breaking un-refuelled voyage around Britain (1,568 nautical miles trip in 72 hours at 21.5 knots average with 2,000 litres (530 gallons) of fuel. Following this, the trimaran worked as a filming platform; she was able to follow racing yachts at high speed while giving a ride smooth enough for still and video photography. Max Speed - 28 knots. Service Speed - 22 to 25 knots. Range - 1600 nm at 22 knots. Passengers : 12. Construction: wood epoxy and glass sandwich.
