During a gale on 14th June, the fore and aft crossbeams broke and the catamaran began to see-saw herself apart. Terlain had to abandon his boat and was rescued by a Russian tug, who saved also the injured Yvon Fauconnier, skipper of ITT Oceanic (ex-Vendredi 13).

In 1955 108 Chris Craft Cobras were constructed. The designers experimented with fiberglass with the traditional mahogany to construct their double planked boats. Linsay Cunningham, C-Class catamaran designer, on McCrae beach, Victoria, Australia. ^^^Son of Charlie, he was born in 1934. From 1961, the Cunninghams designed and built six Little America's Cup Challengers, two of them winners (1970, 1985) and winning defenders in 1972, 1987, 1989 and 1991.

Born on 27 January, 1859, William II, the last German Emperor, ^^^was the grandson of the Queen Victoria of England. In 1888 he became the 9th King of Prussia and the 3rd Emperor of Germany. He returned to England in January 1901 to be at the bedside of his grandmother, Queen Victoria, and was holding her in his arms at the moment of her death. A keen yachtsman, in 1887 he bought "Thistle", the British challenger for the America's Cup, renaming her "Meteor". In 1905, the Kaiser decided to create his own race (The Emperor Cup) across the Atlantic, having enough to be rebuffed in England. His yacht Meteor finished 2nd behind the schooner Atlantic, skippered by Charlie Barr. Between 1896 and 1914, the German Emperor ordered four schooners, the first three still named Meteor (II,III and IV). William II died of a pulmonary embolus in Doorn, the Netherlands, on June 4, 1941. Portrait in the book "The Memorial of the Royal Yacht Squadron". 1815-1900. By Guest and Boulton.
